Coast Bulletin - 4 September 2002 THE media have been barred from interviews with Indian-born guru Prem Rawat, affectionately known to his followers as Maharaji. A three-day gathering of members of his Elan Vital cult drew more than 3500 people from 60 countries who were due to hear their teacher's thoughts at Peak Crossing, southwest of Brisbane, last night. Security guards and a few police stood guard yesterday outside the Ivory's Rock Conference Centre. A spokesman blamed 'negative publicity' from a newspaper report for the guru's refusal to grant interviews. Websites
have accused Elan Vital of wrongdoings, including misusing
donated funds, but it has denied the
